Liz is a writer who loves history - and holidays! Her first book, SIgura, was inspired by a holiday on the Aegean island of Lesvos, formerly Mytilene. Over the course of a fortnight, she conceived the idea for the novel, then used the next five years to research its wider history, including food and drink, religion, and the herbs that might have been used in medicine and which feature in the book.
When not on holiday, she also has a wealth of material on her doorstep, in her home town of Frome. Her latest novel, Dissenters, published by Hobnob Press in association with Silver Crow Books, is set in Frome during the years 1666-67. Liz describes the town itself as a character in her book, and Dissenters certainly brings to life Frome’s spirit of enterprise and tradition of non-conformism. This book, too, is the product of extensive research.
We are keen to know where Liz will focus her literary attentions next!
